It is estimated that there are about 8,800 – 10,200 bird species worldwide; about 1,500 species of which are found in Indonesia. Various types of birds are scientifically classified into the Aves class.

Currently, birds are known to be descended from the theropod dinosaur group admin, and are the only surviving members of the dinosaurs. Thus, the closest living relatives of birds are crocodiles.
