Birds are members of a group of vertebrate animals that have feathers and wings.

The types of birds are so varied, ranging from hummingbirds that are small and can flap their wings very quickly, penguins that dive with their wings, to ostriches, which are taller than humans. most of the world's birds are able to fly using their wings (eg ducks, geese, sparrows, pelicans, owls, eagles, birds of paradise, and many more), except for a few species of birds that are usually endemic to certain places, such as the ostrich, moa , cassowary, kiwi, penguin and so on. It is estimated that there are about 8,800 – 10,200 bird species worldwide; about 1,500 species of which are found in Indonesia. Various types of birds are scientifically classified into the Aves class.

Currently, birds are known to be descended from the theropod dinosaur group admin, and are the only surviving members of the dinosaurs. Thus, the closest living relatives of birds are crocodiles. Birds are descendants of the ancient aviala (whose members include Archeopteryx) which first appeared about 160 million years ago in China. According to DNA evidence, modern birds (Neornithes) evolved during the Cretaceous to Late Cretaceous, and took action rapidly and markedly around the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago, which killed off pterosaurs and all non-avian dinosaurs.
