Key Tables for Sharing with Family and Friends

Generate unique monthly key tables with complete daily settings (cylinder positions, ring positions, plugboard, reflector). Share them securely with your contacts—via text, JSON export, or a convenient QR code. This way, you can communicate securely throughout the entire month without having to agree on new settings for every message. JSON files allow for easy import into the app, while QR codes enable quick scanning.

Secure your private communications: Encrypt emails, messenger messages, notes, or entire chat histories from prying eyes. Alberich makes strong, historically inspired encryption suitable for everyday use and intuitive to operate.

Important Settings:

Position of wheels (rotors): Thin wheel (Beta or Gamma) plus three standard wheels (I–VIII). Example: B241 = Beta + II + IV + I

Ring setting: Shifts the internal wiring of each wheel. Specified as a 4-letter code (e.g., AAAV)

Message Key (Initial Setting): The starting position of the rotors (4-letter code, e.g., VJNA). Is selected anew for each message

Plugboard: Swaps letters in pairs (e.g., AT BL DF). Historically, usually 10 pairs

Reflector (VHF): Bruno (VHF-b), Caesar (VHF-c), or custom-set Dora (VHF-d)

Here's how to use Alberich:

Configure settings: Select the wheel, ring position, cipher key, plugboard, and reflector. Use “Standard” for typical settings, “Random” for new configurations, or load a key table.

Encrypt: Type or paste your plaintext at the top. The output immediately displays the encrypted result in convenient groups of four.

Decrypt: Paste the encrypted text—using the same settings, you’ll get the original text back.

Share: Copy the result or share it directly via messenger or email.

The reels spin live in the visualization—you can see the mechanical rotation in real time.
