Huawei FreeBuds 4i Guide

The Huawei FreeBuds 4i are the most affordable active noise canceling earbuds I've tested. Available in a choice of three colors – Ceramic White, Carbon Black and Honey Red – it costs just £80. That's £10 less than its launched predecessor FreeBuds 3i and less than half the RRP of the FreeBuds Pro.

Just like the FreeBuds Pro, the 4i operates wirelessly via the latest version of Bluetooth – 5.2 – and supports AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs. They're also packed with the same accessories: a USB-C cable to charge the case and three sets of different sized eartips to ensure you get a secure and stable fit.

The True Wireless Audio design means that these earphones do not have any cables to connect to each other and to music devices, such as smartphones or PCs. This TWS also uses a stalk design that has been widely used in several audio products. By using eartips, the Huawei Freebuds 4i uses an in-ear model and not an open-ear model.

Huawei Freebuds 4i uses a material with a type of polycarbonate plastic. The build itself feels quite sturdy when held so you don't have to worry about damage when it falls from your ear. Some TWS models even have a thin shape and a blank sound when tapped. But not for this Huawei Freebuds 4i.

TWS can be managed by using an application made by Huawei. This application, called Huawei AI Life, can find out the battery content of each earbud and also the charging case. I can also turn on the noise canceling and awareness mode in this application. And of course TWS can also upgrade its firmware directly from AI Life.
