Kilimo Guru

Kilimo Guru is a mobile application that connects unemployed youths and farmers to employment by linking them to agricultural opportunities and start-ups. We do this by introducing youths to agribusiness and go a step further by assisting them make their agriventures profitable and sustainable. At Kilimo Guru we strongly believe that the solution to youth unemployment not only in Kenya but also in Africa lies in agriculture. In order to achieve this we have developed this mobile phone application that connects youths, farmers, agro vets and buyers. This application provides a platform where youths access valuable information about smart and precision agriculture; they also get access to farm inputs and a ready market for their products. In addition to these services, we have created a platform within this application where youths access funding in order to turn them into agripreneurs.

Kilimo Guru is the first mobile phone application of its kind to create such an integrated platform. This form of integration has enabled us to solve the three prevailing problems that make youths avoid agripreneurship: Inaccessibility to markets, lack of finances and lack of viable agribusiness ideas. Our aim is to expand our regional network so as to provide more employment to young people, grow the economy towards achieving food security and financial independence.
