In 2013, Puri recorded his first Bollywood song "Dhat Teri Ki" alongside Aditi Singh Sharma for the Imran Khan–Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, composed by the duo Vishal–Shekhar and penned by Kumaar. Puri's manager got him connected to the duo and it was after listening to his song "Teri Aankhon Se" that they offered him the project. The song was released as a single on 26 October 2013, and was an instantaneous hit. His collaboration with Vishal–Shekhar was followed by "Ishq Bulaava" from Hasee Toh Phasee.
