  Great news!
Speak supports reading non-latin text for quite some time using Google Lens. Unfortunately, there was no simple way to extract the text when using talkback. Finally this problem is solved by connecting Speak to Microsoft Translate. This allows reading text in Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Korean and Russian in addition to the Latin languages.
