ছোটদের আরব্য রজনীর সেরা গল্প

অনেক কাল আগে আরব্য দেশে শারিয়ার নামে এক দুষ্ট অত্যাচারী বাদশা বসবাস করত। তিনি তার জীবনের এক নির্মম ঘটনার কারনে প্রতিরাতে একজন করে কুমারী নারীকে বিয়ে করতেন আর ভোর হবার আগেই তাদেরকে হত্যা করতেন। এভাবে প্রতিরাতে একজন করে কুমারী নারী হত্যা করতে করতে শহরে আর কোন কুমারী অবশিষ্ট থাকল না, শুধু উজিরের দুই মেয়ে বাদে। উজিরের বড় মেয়ের নাম ছিল শাহরাজাদ আর ছোটটির নাম ছিল দুনিয়াজাদ। শাহরাজাদ খুব বুদ্ধিমতি মেয়ে ছিল। তার ইতিহাস সম্পর্কে অগাধ জ্ঞান ছিল এবং গান বাজনাতেও খুব পারদর্শী ছিল।

একদিন শাহরাজাদ তার বাবাকে মন খারাপ করে বসে থাকতে দেখে তাকে তার মন খারাপের কারন জানতে চাইলেন। উজির কাঁদতে কাঁদতে বাদশা শারিয়ারের সমস্ত ঘটনা খুলে বললেন।সব কথা শুনে শাহরাজাদ বাবাকে শান্ত করে বললেন, ‘

তুমি এই সামান্য বিষয়ের জন্য এত চিন্তা করছ কেন। আজ রাতেই তুমি আমার সাথে বাদশা শারিয়ার বিয়ে দিযে দাও। আমার ভাগ্যের কথা ভেবে তোমার উতলা হবার দরকার নেই। আমি যদি সত্যিই তোমার মেয়ে হয়ে থাকি তবে অবশ্যই আমি প্রাণ নিয়ে ফিরে আসবই। আর যদি দেখি কোনভাবেই আমি আমার জীবন রক্ষা করতে পারছি না তখন এমন কাজ করব, যাতে ভবিষ্যতে দুনিয়ার আর কোন মেয়েকে এভাবে মরতে না হয়। পুরো ব্যাপারটা আমার উপর ছেড়ে দিয়ে নিশ্চিন্তে থাকতে পার।

উজির বললেন--‘মা, আল্লাহর দয়া থেকে তুমি বঞ্চিত হবে না, এটুকু ভরসা আমার আছে। তবে একটা কথা । তুমি কিন্তু তোমার আসল পরিচয় নবাবের কাছে গোপন রাখবে

বিয়ের রাতে শাহ্রাযাদ রাজাকে একটা গল্প বলা শুরু করে কিন্তু শেষ করে না। রাজা গল্পের শেষ জানতে এতই আগ্রহী থাকে যে মৃত্যুদণ্ড বিলম্বিত করার সি্দ্ধান্ত নেয়। শাহ্রাজাদ একটা গল্প শেষ হওয়ার সাথে সাথেই আরেকটা গল্প শুরু করে। পরের গল্পটাও রাতের মাঝে শেষ হয় না। এভাবেই তাঁর মৃত্যুদণ্ড বিলম্বিত হতে থাকে ১০০১ রাত থাকে পর্যন্ত।
