Hue Imperial Citadel or Thuan Hoa Imperial Citadel (Chinese: 順化皇城), also known as the Imperial Citadel (Chinese: 大內), is the second citadel inside the Hue Citadel, with the function of protecting the palaces. The most important palace of the royal court, the Nguyen dynasty's ancestral temples and the protection of the Forbidden City - a place reserved for the king and royal family. People often call the Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden City together the Citadel
