Naghmeh was born on January 1, 1964 in Kandahar. When he was a child, his family moved to Kabul, and he completed his primary and secondary education at Aino Kandahar High School and Rabia Balkhi Primary School in Kabul. Naghmeh married Mangal, a Pashto singer, in 1981. He and his first wife, Mangal, were a successful artistic couple, but in 2004 their relationship broke down. He currently performs in Europe and the United States. Naghmeh has four children, two daughters, Lima Medina, and two sons, Anwar and Khyber, who live in the United States.
