Advice To Young Lieutenants in the Army

A lieutenant is responsible for everything the platoon does or fails to do. Expectations from senior officers and non-commissioned officers in the Army are very high.

You are expected to possess the fundamental knowledge and skills in performing the duties and responsibilities of a Platoon Leader, a frontline officer of the Army.

A new lieutenant, through his or her actions, can rise to meet these expectations and become a leader that soldiers can rely on with their lives, or be a burden on subordinate NCO leadership and the chain of command.
