Arctic Drive is a first-person, 1–4 player co-op survival simulator set in a harsh, procedurally generated Arctic wilderness. In this unforgiving frozen world, your vehicle is more than just transportation—it is your lifeline, your mobile base, and the only thing standing between you and certain death.
Core Gameplay Loop
The game drops players into a desolate winter landscape where survival depends on constant scavenging, vehicle maintenance, and strategic planning. Players must explore abandoned structures, wrecked vehicles, and remote points of interest to gather essential resources like fuel, oil, water, food, batteries, and car parts. Every object in the world is fully physical—if you can lift it, you can load it into your vehicle or trailer.
Your rig is the heart of the experience. It suffers fully simulated damage: the chassis and individual parts deform on impact, requiring hands-on repairs to keep it running. Players can upgrade their vehicle with better engines, heaters, tire chains, and expanded storage to improve survivability on long expeditions. Trailers and even RVs can be converted into mobile bases, extending your operational range and providing additional shelter from the elements.
Survival Mechanics
Arctic Drive features a comprehensive survival system that tracks hunger, thirst, and body temperature for each player character. The environment itself is an active antagonist: blizzards, whiteouts, and sub-zero temperatures constantly threaten to overwhelm the unprepared. A full day-night cycle adds urgency to every journey, as freezing nights demand shelter and warmth.
One dead engine can end an entire run, making vehicle maintenance a non-negotiable priority. Players must manage fuel levels, oil, battery charge, and radiator conditions while navigating treacherous snowy terrain with realistic driving physics.
Co-op and Replayability
The game supports 1–4 player online co-op, encouraging teamwork and role specialization. Players can coordinate tasks, share supplies, revive downed teammates, and keep the vehicle rolling through deep snow together. Whether playing solo or with friends, every run offers a unique experience thanks to the procedurally generated Arctic map, which ensures different terrain, resource distribution, and points of interest each time.
Game Modes and Structure
Arctic Drive offers both structured scenarios to complete and an open sandbox mode for extended survival runs. A typical run can last anywhere from 10 minutes to many hours, depending on player skill, preparation, and luck. The game includes a save/load system, allowing players to resume from their latest checkpoint in this sandbox-style experience.
Development and Release
Developed by indie studios Pebbles Games and PlayTogether Studio, with publishing support from Bonus Stage, Arctic Drive is scheduled to launch in Early Access on November 25, 2026. The developers describe it as a complete, fully playable core experience focused on exploration, driving, vehicle customization, and multiplayer gameplay, with additional features like story mode, wildlife, crafting, mod support, and crossplay planned for future updates.
For fans of survival games like The Long Dark, SnowRunner, The Long Drive, and My Summer Car, Arctic Drive offers a compelling blend of realistic vehicle simulation, environmental storytelling, and cooperative tension in one of gaming's most hostile settings.
