About Barbara Droghini
Personal portfolio of Barbara Droghini
Barbara Droghini was born in Cuneo in 1965, her first works were self-taught pencil drawings. In 1985 he took part in the first National Competition in Castel Maggiore (Bo) where he won a Silver Plaque. He took part again in 1988, and won a Medal from the Municipality. However, only in 2004 did he meet the Bolognese painter Stefania Russo and begin a new adventure with her: oil painting. Thanks to this meeting, the young artist began to paint paintings under the influence of classics such as: Caravaggio, Van Gogh, Raphael, Guido Reni, Elisabetta Sirani, Pierre Mignard, Roberto Ferruzzi. The paintings he paints are not copies but true reinterpretations such as "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Jan Vermeer, where he wanted to represent the same girl who had now become a happy woman for having met the true love of life: the eyes, in fact, they shine with this light and the line is decisive, the young woman is no longer insecure and disoriented but certain. The paintings influenced by Guercino present different features, in fact Barbara often lets herself be led by looks. In finding Jesus at the temple, the face of Jesus is the face of his twelve-year-old son, as in the parable. In the painting "The Prodigal Son", the Father's touch reactivates the flow of blood, that is, of life in the body of the son who is now pale and gaunt like a dying man. This phase lasts 10 years from 2004 to 2014, interspersed with a short and intense period in which he reinterprets Van Gogh and Chagal. All this comes together in his first solo exhibition together with the watercolourist Silvia Bruni held at Palazzo Pepoli - Campogrande in Bologna in 2015. In 2021 he participates in the VI Edition of the Michelangelo Buonarroti International Prize with an exhibition at the prestigious Palazzo Medici in Serravezza (UNESCO heritage), obtaining the Jury award for the painting section. In the same year he participated in the 7th edition of the Luxembourg Art Prize, obtaining an official Certificate of artistic merit. Finally, in the years 2021-2022 Barbara goes to the school of the painter Davide Peretti, son of the famous internationally renowned Bolognese artist, Wolfango [Peretti Poggi] and begins a more modern and specific phase with the painting called: "la Sportiva". The originality of her work comes from personal life experiences: suffering from a betrayal, the conversion of friends, the pain of her mother's death. Only a strong emotion makes the colors explode within them and this is its originality.
2023: participates in the publication of Artisti2023 -Mondadori and in “Porto Franco” Vittorio Sgarbi's magazine for the customs clearance of new artists
2023: also receives the Michelangeo International Prize plaque for notable artistic value in Florence.
