Install & Configure Cable Defender Devices inside Cable Pits
The Cable Defender Install app is required to install and activate all Cable Defender Devices. Once installed, a device will appear in the linked customer account.
Technicians can scan the NFC tag on the front of a Cable Defender Device, or scan the QR code on the back of the device and the shipping box, to access a device’s settings when installing it in a cable pit.
During installation, a technician can:
* Set the Cable Defender Device’s physical location
* Set the Cable Defender Device’s cable group
After installation, scanning the NFC tag or QR code can be used to access the device’s settings on-site at the cable pit.
These settings are:
* Change the Cable Defender Device’s physical location
* Change the Cable Defender Device’s cable group
* Mark the device for deactivation. This sends a deactivation request, which must be approved by an admin in the Cable Defender Web Portal before the device is deactivated. After confirming deactivation, the device will not trigger alerts on its parent cable group.
A technician login is required to access the Cable Defender Install app. Technician logins are created within the Cable Defender Web Portal using an existing customer account. Customer accounts are created after purchasing Cable Defender Devices.
