Our app is intended for all those interested in Dutch culture and history, and in particular for students and teachers from group 5 to secondary education. With the Canon you come face to face with the history of the Netherlands!

The Canon of the Netherlands consists of fifty cleverly chosen 'windows' that together show the story of the Netherlands. In 2020, the Canon has been completely renewed on the basis of new developments and insights: ten windows have been replaced, and the texts of all windows have been revised. Also, the windows are now connected via seven thematic main lines. This release of the Canon of the Netherlands app offers full support for the recently updated Canon of the Netherlands (2020).

Open a window and you get a view of one of the people, objects or events that have contributed to the Netherlands in which we now live. Per window you can choose information at a level from group 5 up to and including secondary education.

=== New: Child lock ===

The Canon van Nederland app now includes a child lock. This allows an adult to prevent a child from changing reading levels or accessing external links without permission. To unlock the lock, a calculation must be solved. How often the permission must be given can be adjusted in the settings.

Permission is always required to change settings.

=== Information for students ===

You can use the Canon van Nederland app in class - if the teacher approves of course ;-) - but the app also offers you a lot of material that you can use for a paper or presentation.

The app is one of the first educational apps that is fully in line with the core goals of education. The app can be used from group 5 up to and including secondary education. The language used and the available materials such as films and assignments are adapted to the selected target group.

The Canon of the Netherlands was developed as a didactic concept by the Dutch Canon Development Committee (2005-2007). The Canon of the Netherlands is intended for all those interested in Dutch culture and history, and in particular for students and teachers from group 5 up to and including secondary education. The first version of the Canon was presented in 2006 and placed with the entoen.nu foundation. In 2020, the Canon of the Netherlands was thoroughly reassessed by the Kennedy Committee. The Canon of the Netherlands app supports the new Canon of the Netherlands.
