About CirCam

Make circular art in real time with your camera. Simple to use.

No registration required, no AI. It works offline.

CirCam (Circle-Camera) allows you to turn ordinary scenes into abstract works of art made of circular shapes. All you need to do is point your phone's cam at anything you fancy & you'll instantly get a preview of your creation. Now take a shot. Done! You clearly don't need to be an expert to use it & it's amazing how even the most mundane objects & scenes can look extraordinary through CirCam’s eye. Just make sure your phone has at least decent specs. And...don’t let anyone disturb your circles.

Simple idea calls for its simple execution. Menus are self-explanatory but I’ll explain every option anyway:

Switch – switches cam from back-front (you’re in for some pretty weird selfies) and back again

Flash – flash on/off

Stop/Start – sometimes, especially if you’re working with quickly moving subjects, you may want to freeze the scene, which allows you to adjust any settings leisurely; changes are visible in real time of course; when you’re done just remember to…

Snap – takes the photo & saves it to your phones’ gallery (“snap” is meant to be quick but it is in no way devoid of art pretensions in our context)

Numbers at the bottom – makes circles bigger/smaller (/1 to /8 with default value being /3)

OPTIONS consists of:

Larger photos – when ON your art has 4x the usual pixel count; takes more time to save

Save as PNG – when ON your photos will be saved in better quality while occupying more space; saving is slower especially when previous option is also turned ON; default saving format is JPG

Faster camera – makes cam more responsive (really convenient for slower devices but comes at the expense of some quality; if you’re experiencing a lag, a neat trick would be to turn this ON when framing a photo & then, when you are satisfied with the result, turn it OFF and finally SNAP the photo)

We have a fully functional demo that makes sure everything is working on your device. However, it only saves photos that are 200px on their longer side at best (very small & of very low quality). For HD capture (the exact photo resolution depends on your screen resolution, e.g. it’s 1920x1080px on my device, 3840x2160 with “larger photos” option applied) you’ll need the regular version which you can get for a small one-time fee. I would be really happy to offer everything I made for free but that’s not very realistic option, since my finances are seriously limited.

My advice: try CirCamDemo first! If it happens that something of importance don’t work for you there’s really no point in purchasing full version. So if that’s the case please don’t do that. You can download demo here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devapan.circamdemo

Another thing to try with CC is to change the photo-algorithm by tapping once on lower half of the “viewport”. Double-tap on upper half hides the menus so you can experience full view without distractions (regular app version only). Double-tap again to reverse the effect.

Despite occasionally using the 1st-person plural, I’m a solo dev. I am dedicated to creating some experimental graphical stuff, often offering it to the community for free. If you feel like buying me a coffee or even a donut, I won't say no. My Paypal: [email protected]

After donating (donuting) or purchasing the app, as a humble thank you, I'll create (if you want me to) a unique digital piece of generative abstract art (non-AI, nothing’s wrong with AI but that’s just too easy) & send it to your email as a PNG picture file - with your explicit permission of course.

You could also use the address above to share with me some interesting photos that you took with CirCam (can’t wait to see what you’re creating) or to send me a suggestion regarding the app.

Maybe it’s worth mentioning that we fully respect your privacy. It goes without saying that we don’t have access to your cam view or your saved pics.

Thanks for being a part of this journey, and God bless.
