In the goods and services tax (GST) epoch, movement of goods worth more than rupees fifty thousand within or outside a state will require securing an e-way bill by prior online enrolment.

E-Way Bill under GST E-way bill is an electronic indenture generated on the GST portal evidencing movement of goods. It is usually a unique bill number generated for the specific consignment involving the movement of goods.

When should you generate the E-way bill?

When goods are transported by a registered (either on GST or the EWB system) person, either acting as a consignee or consignor in his own vehicle, hired vehicle, railways, by air or by vessel, the supplier or recipient of the goods should generate the e-way Bill

Documents which are required to create an E-Way Bill:

i. Invoice or Bill of Supply or Challan related to the consignment of goods.

ii. Transport by road – Transporter ID or Vehicle number

iii. Transport by rail, air, or ship – Transporter ID, Transport document number, and date on the document
