Inkiostro: Markdown Notes

Inkiostro is a Markdown editor for people who write — notes, documentation, a thesis, a whole book. Plain text files that stay yours, a live preview that already looks like a finished page, and exports you can hand in.

NEW IN 1.12: write without Markdown. The Visual Editor shows your text already formatted as you type — headings, bold and lists from the buttons above the keyboard — and the file stays plain Markdown.

Your documents are ordinary .md files in a folder you choose. Not a database, not an account: open that folder tomorrow in any other app and every word is still there.

Inkiostro keeps versions while you write, shows what changed down to the single word, and restores one paragraph without throwing away everything you wrote since. Search your whole history for a phrase you deleted last week. Name a version and it's kept for good.
