Travel Through History:

Travel through history while driving. From your location in Texas, or your virtual starting location, the map updates historic sites while you drive. Pass by churches from the time of the Spanish, forts from the Civil War, and historic buildings of the 20th century. Tap a marker on the map to listen and read about the people who were there and the contributions they made.

Outside Texas? Augmented Reality Experience:

Driving outside Texas, your augmented experience begins at a randomly selected historic site. As you drive, your virtual location is updated on the Texas map. Each time your location is updated, new sites are displayed on the map. With random starting locations, daily commutes will be new and different virtual routes through Texas.

Traveling in Texas? Texas Driving Experience:

In Texas the map updates in real time with nearby historical sites. Tap on a map marker to listen and read about the site. Does the site interest you? Tap the Directions icon and view directions how to drive, walk or take a bus to visit the historic site.

Random Wonders:

Tap the Wonder tab and listen to and read about a randomly selected historical site. With more than 12,000 sites, you will likely discover sites you never heard of. To discover another random site, tap the refresh button. If you want to visit it, and you are in North America, tap the Directions icon for accurate direction from your location.

Search by Filter:

Are you interested in particular counties or specific topics? Perhaps you want to find locations in Denton County where there is a Civil War monument? The search feature filters sites based on county and topic. In North America? Tap the Directions button and view in Google Maps directions how to get there.
