Expressive writing is the practice of writing about your deeply held beliefs and feelings for a period of 15 to 20 minutes per day. Honest emotional expression is the key to it being effective. Write honestly and without thinking about or judging what you write. Try to write every day. This app will give you a prompt to focus your writing and will help to keep you on schedule and honest with your writing. However it is best to write using a pen and paper as this is a more direct expression of your emotions. Expressive writing can work for everyone. It is a simple and highly effective technique that has been scientifically proven to help people through trauma. Best of all it's free. You can try it as a form of therapy or just to feel a bit better. The prompts on this app are focussed on positive experiences and are accessible/relatable for the majority of people. It may be helpful for some people to have more prompts that are directly related to particular issues. More focussed sets of prompts will be released soon.
