About Eysenck EPQ-R Questionnaire
The most complete (EPQ-R ) version with Russian and Chinese localization support
The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire is currently one of the most widely used tests in the fields of medicine, justice, education, and psychological counseling. The EPQ-R version presented to you is the latest, most complete and reliable variant of this test. In addition to the original English version, the questionnaire has also been adapted for Russian and Chinese.
The (EPQ) Eysenck personality questionnaire, aka PEN, which stands for Psychoticism, Extraversion, and Neuroticism, the fourth Eysenck test published in 1968, was the result of further research by Hans and Sibylla Eysenck. The third factor named Psychoticism was added to the two-dimensional (Extraversion - Neuroticism) structure of previous questionnaires, which did not change the original biaxial concept. This factor is not bipolar; its high values may indicate social maladjustment problems.
However, there was no clear justification for the appropriateness of distinguishing this category at that moment, and the calculation results were
disputed by many researchers.
In response to the criticism, the Eysenck couple conducted their own research summarized in an article published in 1985 that described the final EPQ-Revised test and its abridged version as well. The final EPQ-R variant contains more than a dozen new questions pertaining to the P scale.
In addition to determining the four basic (Phlegmatic, Melancholic, Sanguine, and Choleric) temperaments as per Eysenck, based on the current quadrant of the plane of the extroversion and neuroticism axes, the present test also classifies types by Sukhodolsky, i.e., the Normal temperament located in the center being surrounded by eight accentuated varieties, which, in principle, match the next level for diagnosing of the Personality, the Leonhard-Schmieshek approach accentuations. Besides, it is worth mentioning that the well-known five-factor (aka Big Five) and six-factor (HEXACO) models of personality structure include factors E and N as independent variables as well.
As far as we know, the EPQ-R questionnaire was not published in Russian yet,
and Russian-speaking users may now benefit from the translated and adapted version made by the present test developer in their native language.
The existing (EPQ-RSC) Chinese version of the questionnaire was developed on the basis of the abridged version of 48 questions. The present test contains all 100 questions of the full questionnaire variant. Questions marked (*) in the Chinese text are copied from EPQ-RSC. The application author will gratefully accept any comments and suggestions to improve the quality of the Chinese version of the test.
