Aquaculture Systems

Aquaculture is a composite of 2 say it akua (water) culture (cultivated), this aquaculture is under the agricultural industry.

Aquaculture is the name for all types of water areas or wetlands, where animals and aquatic plants are cultivated. Society is very dependent on the sea and its resources. Life and livelihoods as fishermen are part of the traditions and cultures of our society. Fish is an important part of food and is a profitable source of income.

Aquaculture Purpose

-Production of high protein foods

-Development of natural stock (with stocking: artificial recruitment and transplantation)

-Production of fish for amenities (sport and ornamental)

- Fish production for bait and research

-Recycling organic matter

- Production of industrial commodities (in the form of feed, medicine, etc.). Example: seaweed as one of the raw materials of the cosmetic industry.
