This novel, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald
This novel, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is about a group of old, bored, and lonely people who are stuck in their routines. The story is told through the eyes of Tom Buchanan, a wealthy and bored man who is married to Daisy, a beautiful woman who seems to be bored with her life. Tom and Daisy's lives seem to revolve around parties and rich people, and they only seem to be happy when they are surrounded by other people. Tom and Daisy meet Nick and Jordan, a young couple who are the complete opposite of them. Nick is a writer and Jordan is an artist. Nick and Jordan seem to be happy and content with their lives. They are in love and happy with what they have. The Buchanans are intrigued by this young couple, and they invite them to one of their parties. At the party, Nick meets Gatsby, an old man who lives in a mansion near the Buchanans. Gatsby was once rich and he threw the most extravagant parties, but now he is just an old man with an extravagant house. He tells Nick that he wants to give him his fortune so that he can live the life that Gatsby once had. Nick declines Gatsby's offer, but Gatsby continues to talk to him about how he wants to give him his fortune. Eventually, Nick accepts Gatsby's offer and Gatsby gives him his house. Gatsby wants Nick to take care of his house for him until he dies. Nick doesn't know what to do with the house, so he starts throwing parties there. Tom is intrigued by this, and he starts to go to the parties. Tom is happy for the first time in a long time because he finally has something new to do. Daisy starts to go to the parties too, but she doesn't enjoy them because she doesn't have Nick there. The story ends with Daisy telling Tom that she wants a divorce because she is unhappy with her life.
