Espresso Journal

Espresso Journal is a free, ad-supported app for recording and comparing coffee shots. Keep beans, grinder, dose, yield, time, temperature, grind setting and tasting notes together for each shot. The app calculates brew ratio from the values you enter. Return to favorites and shot history, compare two shots to see how your settings changed, and export your records as CSV when you want a copy.

Create a bean profile with its name, roaster, origin and roast date, and keep a named grinder profile with notes. Link each new shot to those profiles so its recipe has useful context. Give shots a rating, search your history, filter favorites and sort by newest entry or rating. The comparison view shows differences in ratio, shot time, temperature and rating for the two records you select. Records stay on your device. CSV export includes bean, grinder and shot entries, making it easier to review your own brewing notes elsewhere.
