About statlet

Weather, network speed and system stats as status-bar icons. No root needed.

Statlet puts live information into your status bar — the outside temperature, how fast your connection is moving, how hot the phone is. No root, no custom ROM, no accessibility tricks.

WHAT YOU CAN SHOW

Twenty icons, by what they measure:

• Weather — temperature, sky conditions as a day/night pictogram, feels like, humidity, wind, pressure, UV index and precipitation: eight icons, one request every quarter of an hour

• Sun and moon — sunrise and sunset as a clock, and the moon phase, worked out on the phone from the date: no network, no location, no permission

• Network — connection speed (download, and upload on a second line if you want) and a cumulative data counter with a monthly reset day

• Battery — charge level with a marker while charging, voltage and current

• System — phone temperature (SoC sensor where the kernel exposes it, battery otherwise), RAM in use and free storage

• Position — GPS speed in km/h, mph or m/s

Enable the ones you want and drag them into the order you like.

HOW IT WORKS

Android has no API for drawing in the status bar, so Statlet uses the one thing that does get drawn there: a notification's small icon. Every icon you enable is a silent, ongoing notification redrawn with the current value. That is the whole trick, and why no privileges are needed.

So the icons follow the notification system's rules. On Android 16 and later the system bundles an app's notifications and draws one icon for the group: Statlet then cycles it through your enabled values, all readable at once in the shade. On Android 15 and earlier, each icon is its own.

CHARTS

Statlet keeps what it measures: every numeric value is written to the phone once a minute at most, and two days are kept. A tab draws them over 1, 6, 24 or 48 hours, with the lowest, average, highest and current figure. None of it leaves your phone; one switch stops it and deletes the history.

ALERTS

Any icon showing a number can carry a threshold — above 45 °C, below 15%. Crossing it gets you a notification on its own channel, on the crossing and not for as long as the condition lasts: a hot phone is one notification, not one every fifteen seconds.

HOME SCREEN WIDGETS

Six sizes: a single cell, a strip of four values, one value large with a sparkline, a chart over the last hour or day, a moon phase, a list of the enabled icons. Each refreshes from half an hour to a day, and samples itself when the icons are stopped.

There is also a mode that puts no icon in the status bar at all and writes the values into the notification instead.

BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY

Every icon has its own notification channel, so any one can be muted or hidden from the system settings. Fast samplers pause with the screen off, and after a reboot the icons come back by themselves.

WEATHER WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT

Weather comes from Open-Meteo: no API key, no sign-up. If you prefer OpenWeatherMap, enter your own key — it stays on your device. Location is optional: grant approximate location, or search a city by name.

MATERIAL YOU

Dynamic colours on Android 12 and later, light and dark themes, English and Italian, and a layout that spreads out on a tablet.

PRIVACY

Statlet has no account and no sign-up. Coordinates go to the weather service when a weather icon is on. Nothing else leaves unless you send it: a bug report, a supporters-list name, crash reports.

FREE AND PRO

Three icons are free and the app starts with them: outside temperature, network speed, battery. The other icons, the fonts, the Android 16 chip, OpenWeatherMap, the alerts and the home widgets are Statlet Pro, monthly or yearly. Whatever you were already using stays yours.

GOOD TO KNOW

The icons are notifications, so their order follows the notification ranking, and some skins rearrange them or cap how many an app may show. There is no public API for CPU temperature without root, so that icon falls back to the battery sensor where the kernel keeps thermal zones private, and says so.

Android 6 and later.

2026.9.2 — a new app icon

The same mark, framed by one rule shared with the rest of the family: centred so the space
around it is even all the way round, and the same distance clear of the circle a launcher
masks with. Ten icons that were each framed by hand now line up with one another. The blue
is a gradient now instead of flat, and there is a dark copy for dark surfaces.
