GDD AR

The Community Relations Department (CRD) of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is responsible for educating the public against the evils of corruption and enlisting public support for the ICAC. The Department has long been committed to promoting moral education for youngsters through innovative means. This year, CRD plans to promote positive values and probity messages to kindergarten kids and junior primary school pupils through activity worksheets with augmented reality (AR) elements.

The activity worksheet will consist of an origami diagram on which there will be some 2D graphic illustrations of the ICAC’s character “Gee-Dor-Dor” (GDD). To begin the activity, students would be required to colour the 2D GDD illustration. Then they can follow the instructions printed on the worksheet to cut out the origami diagram and fold the paper into a rectangular pen holder.

Next, students can make use of a mobile device (e.g. smartphone or tablet) with a designated mobile application (App) installed to scan the pen holder and activate the AR functions, such as interacting with a 3D GDD and receive probity messages.
