For that global version, pre-registration is confirmed for August 25. For BGMI Lite, the India-specific build, Krafton is pointing players toward the same window.
The official Battlegrounds Mobile India Instagram account posted the news, and a new dedicated handle, @bgmi_lite.official, went live alongside it. That account is where future BGMI Lite updates are expected to land. If you want the launch date the second it drops, that's the account to follow.

What Is BGMI Lite?
BGMI Lite is a lighter version of Battlegrounds Mobile India built for phones that struggle with the full game. It keeps the core battle royale loop. You drop in, loot, fight, and try to be the last squad standing. What changes is everything underneath, so the game can run on budget hardware without melting it.
Why does this matter in India? Because low-end devices are a massive slice of the market. The full BGMI runs, but frame rates and stability swing wildly on cheaper phones. A dedicated Lite build means more players can actually enjoy it instead of fighting stutter.
BGMI Lite Device Requirements and Performance
Krafton hasn't published a final spec sheet for BGMI Lite yet. The best reference is the old PUBG Mobile Lite, which ran on 1 GB of RAM, about 600 MB of storage, and Android 4.0.3 or later. Expect BGMI Lite to land in the same ballpark.

One common guess is that BGMI Lite matches might drop from 100 players to 50 on the main map. Krafton hasn't confirmed that. Until official details land, treat it as speculation.
How BGMI Lite Connects to PUBG Mobile Lite
A quick bit of history clears up why this announcement got so much attention. Tencent shut down the original PUBG Mobile Lite years ago, and Indian players who relied on its low device requirements never really stopped asking for a lightweight version to return. When Battlegrounds Mobile India replaced the banned PUBG Mobile, a Lite version felt inevitable. It just took a while to get here.
PUBG Mobile Light, the new global title, is targeting a launch before the end of 2026. BGMI Lite should follow a similar timeline, but Krafton hasn't locked in a specific date for the Indian build.
