Industrial MHVapp

The MHVapp is for measuring slight speed deviations in continuous rotation equipment. These deviations can indicate mechanical problems such as bent pins, damaged bearings, broken cam followers, etc. before they cause a hard failure or machine crash. The distance of the trace from the center of the circle indicates a change in speed at a particular angle making it easy to spot a damaged "nest" as it will stand out among the undamaged ones.

Instructions for use:

1) The phone must be placed flat on the machine with the screen facing up, it is not necessary to place it in the center and can be oriented in any direction, make a note of where the trace points at idle to help in identifying the location of damaged components.

2) Set the refresh rate, a high rate will give more accurate results but can drain the battery faster.

3) Set the force scale to best match the speed of your equipment, 1:1 for slowly rotating machines and 1:20 for faster ones. Setting it too low will cause the trace to run off the edge of the screen, while too high will make the trace hard to interpret.

4) Set the target circle diameter to provide a visual reference.

5) Press start on the menu to begin recording and run your assembly machine up to its normal operating speed for several rotations or until you feel enough data has been collected.

6) Stop the recording by pressing stop on the menu.

7) You can view the previous session on the screen or save it as a .PNG by pressing save on the menu. The file should save to your devices DCIM folder.

8) Press reset to clear the screen or don't and begin another recording session by drawing on the previous one.
