Since its creation in 1976, one of Interferry’s primary functions has been to facilitate networking and cooperation within the ferry industry. This has been achieved mainly by means of the annual conference which has been held in venues around the world for the past 40 years. On average approximately 75% of the delegates are members but the event is also open to non-members as a way to encourage growth in the association. There are a lot of shipping conferences on the calendar every year but few with the friendly atmosphere of the Interferry event. The fact that it is an association means that friends from around the world have an opportunity to get together every year. This is highlighted by the number of spouses who attend for the social events.

It is important not to lose sight of the fact that business is the primary reason for attending conferences. The networking atmosphere of the Interferry conference facilitates that goal. It is enhanced by the fact that a very large percentage of delegates are senior executives in their companies which means the decision makers are present.

The 2016 conference is in Manila, from October 15-19, 2016. The conference venue is the Sofitel Manila Plaza located on Manila Bay.
