Lanly: Local Smart Lights

Lanly controls smart lights directly over your own Wi-Fi network.

No account to create, no cloud in the middle, no company server involved in

controlling a light. Tap a light and your phone sends that command straight to

the bulb on your network. That is why it feels instant - and why it keeps

working when your internet does not.

WHAT IT DOES

- Finds compatible lights on your Wi-Fi

- On/off, brightness, white tone and colour

- Colour presets, mood scenes and dynamic effects

- Turn-off timers so a light switches itself off

ANDROID DEVICE CONTROLS

Your lights appear in the Android device controls panel, from the power menu or

Quick Settings. Most smart-home apps route that panel through a vendor cloud.

Lanly does not, so it works at local speed with no internet at all.

FREE, WITH ADS YOU CAN REMOVE

Lanly is free, paid for by advertising. Being straight about what that means:

- One full-screen ad, at most once every fifteen minutes

- Shown only when you come back to your list of lights

- Never while you are setting up a bulb, never over a control you are using

- No banners, no pop-ups, nothing inline

- One purchase removes ads permanently, on every device signed in to your

Google account. It unlocks nothing else - every feature is already free.

DEVICE SUPPORT - PLEASE READ

Lanly is honest about what has actually been tested.

- Yeelight: VERIFIED on physical hardware. Discovery, control, colour, scenes,

effects, timers and bulb setup all exercised against real bulbs. Needs "LAN

Control" switched on for the bulb in the Yeelight app.

- WLED: BETA. Written to the published local JSON API but NOT confirmed on

physical hardware. It may not work.

- Shelly (Gen2+, unauthenticated): BETA. Written to the published local RPC API

but NOT confirmed on physical hardware. It may not work.

Beta integrations are badged in the app, off by default, and offer a "Report"

PRIVACY

No account. No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting. No server of ours.

Your light names, rooms and settings stay in app-private storage on your phone

and are never uploaded. Every address Lanly connects to on your network must be

a private local address - host names are refused rather than looked up, so it

does not even run DNS queries for your devices.

Google AdMob supplies the ads and is the only third party in the app. To pick an

ad it receives an advertising ID, an approximate location from your IP address,

and the fact that an ad was requested or shown. Where the law requires it you are

asked to consent first, and you can reopen those choices any time in Settings.

Buying the ad-free upgrade stops the advertising SDK starting at all.

A Wi-Fi password saved during bulb setup is encrypted with a key held in your

phone's Android Keystore and excluded from backup and device transfer. Location

permission is optional and asked for only on the bulb setup screen, because

Android will not reveal nearby Wi-Fi names without it.

HONEST LIMITATIONS

- Local network only. No remote access from outside your home, by design.

- Your phone and your lights must be on the same Wi-Fi, and the network must

let devices talk to each other; guest networks and AP isolation block it.

- The Yeelight local protocol is unencrypted - that is the protocol's design,

not a choice Lanly makes. Use it on a network you trust.

- A convenience utility for household lighting. Do not rely on it for safety,

security or anything critical.

- Not affiliated with Yeelight, Xiaomi, WLED or Shelly; those names identify

compatible hardware only.
