Link

Link is a business networking tool. It allows registered users to share their business card with clients. It also allows registered users to create visitor packages for clients. Visitor packages can contain physical access, WiFi connection capabilities, and a virtual wallet. Clients do not have to have an account to receive these things. NFC is used to share all details and thus both the employee and the client requires an NFC enabled Android smartphone.

Client information isn't required. This is to make the app accessible to more people. Clients don't have to fear that their data will be stolen by companies using this app. Instead of letting clients make accounts, clients' devices are linked to visitor packages *. The shared business cards and visitor packages are interactable ** to make it easier to transfer the details to your contact list, etc.

* For this reason, the app requires the READ_PHONE_STATE permission. To ensure that it truly is the device that was linked to the packages. None of these details are used for anything else than to identify the device when using our services (eg. When trying to open an NFC locked door to a room the client was given access to.)

** This includes WiFi and Location Services. Clients' locations aren't tracked. It only gets used to find their current position when opening their navigator of choice. This allows us to present them with a direct route to the destination, without further user input. If the visitor package includes WiFi access, a button will be visible that can be pressed. This will automatically turn on WiFi if it is off and attempt to connect a WiFi router.

The app is still in Beta / Early Access. The app is made by final year Computer Science students of the University of Pretoria, South Africa. The app is part of a final year project and EPI-USE is the project owner.
