LuzTJ

This app reads aloud books in ePUB format to people with low vision or blinded.

It can be used with very simple gestures on the screen.

The app has two working modes:

1) Selection of the book to read

2) Reading the book.

1) SELECTION OF THE BOOK TO READ. After entering the app, we will be asked to

associate it to an active account of the device. We will also be asked to give

permissions to read from Google Drive. Then, the title of one of the books

available for reading will be read aloud. Touch twice on the screen (like a

double click) to choose the book. To select another book in the list, swipe your

finger to the left or to the right. To exit from the app swipe your finger up or

press the HOME button.

2) READING THE BOOK. Once a book has been selected, the first time the app will

download the book from Internet, so that the app can work offline in the future

reading this book. The app will start reading automatically using the

text-to-speech synthesis engine of the device, which must be corectly configured

(pay special attention to its language). To turn the page, swipe your finger

left (next page) or right (previous page). Double touch the screen to pause

reading, and double touch to resume reading. Swipe your finger up to go back to

the book selection mode.

If you exit the app by pressing the HOME button, when coming back the app will

stay in its current mode. If it was reading the book, it will continue reading

where it was.

Books must be in ePUB format and they must be in a directory called LuzTJ (watch

out capital letters) in the Google Drive associated to the account with which

the app is being used. Google Drive read permissions must be granted to the app

(after installing, the app will verify the permissions, and if they are not

granted, it will ask for permission).

It is convenient that a person with normal vision configures the app and manages

the books at the LuzTJ directory. To facilitate access to the app, you may find

useful to create several direct access icons in the same area of the Android

desktop so that the person with low vision can easily "hit" on it.
