  Compass: “True N” derives Declination from approximate location and the built-in WMM 2025 model. A usable fix up to 10 minutes old is reused; otherwise one new approximate fix is requested, with about 12 seconds to wait. If location or model data is unusable: “True north unavailable — allow location access and try again.” Magnetic N remains available. Returning from another app no longer restarts a background heading service.

  While the meter calibrates, “Zero here” and “Zero” are greyed out so taps cannot restart it. If no magnetic readings arrive within about 3 seconds of on-screen measuring, “Meter”, “Scanner”, “Stud Finder” and “Compass” show “No magnetic sensor signal”. Measuring starts after the opening screen closes.
