Islam Nusantara became a term that surfaced in the public after it officially became the theme of the 33rd congress of Nahdlatul Ulama in Jombang in 2015, even though it had long been used to explain the development of Islam in the archipelago. Nahdlatul Ulama deliberately raised this theme so that Islam which is able to live peacefully in Indonesia can be maintained, and even its values ​​can be disseminated throughout the world.

Muslims are now migrating and relocating all over the world, to remote areas that were previously untouched. They also color life as well as their lives are also colored by local culture. The issue of Muslim integration is being discussed in a number of countries that want them to integrate with local life. Evidence that Islam in the archipelago can adapt to local traditions that already existed and then have local characteristics can inspire other regions to develop the same pattern of integrating Islam with local values.

This book is a series of thoughts that were previously scattered on the Opinion channel on the official PBNU website, NU Online, written by activists and thinkers within the Nahdlatul Ulama circle. Articles from NU leaders that we consider very important but are published in other media are also included to broaden understanding of the concept. By reading this book, we hope that readers will have a more complete understanding of the concept of Islam.
