Ponder

The first thing you read in the morning sets the tone for the whole day. Make it one great idea instead of a feed.

Each morning, Ponder hands you a single thought from one of the sharpest minds of the last three thousand years. Marcus Aurelius on keeping your head in a hard week. Lao Tzu on patience. Angela Duckworth on sticking with what matters. Thirty seconds to read — and something to turn over for the rest of the day.

WHAT IT DOES FOR YOUR DAY

• Start with perspective instead of noise — read one idea, then get on with your morning

• Actually understand it — every idea comes with a plain-English explanation of what it means and why it still matters

• Carry it with you — the right sentence can reframe a hard conversation, a setback, a decision

• Discover what you believe — agree or disagree, and watch a picture of your own mind take shape: your favourite thinkers, the themes you keep returning to

• Keep what strikes you — add private notes and wander back through every idea you've seen

A YEAR FROM NOW

One idea a day is 365 ideas a year — Stoic philosophy, Eastern wisdom, Enlightenment reason, voices of conscience, modern psychology. That's the reading list you always meant to start, absorbed one morning at a time, without adding a single task to your life.

DESIGNED TO BE CLOSED

There's no feed to fall into and no ads shouting over the ideas. Read today's idea, sit with it a moment, and go live your day. A quiet daily reminder, at whatever time suits you, is as loud as Ponder ever gets.

WHO IT'S FOR

Anyone who wants to end the year wiser than they started it — commuters, overthinkers, morning-routine people, anyone tired of reaching for their phone and coming away with nothing.

If you've been meaning to read the great thinkers and somehow never started, this is the quiet way in.
