TileShell Launcher + Widgets

TileShell is a launcher for Android that recreates the Start screen of Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile, built from scratch in Kotlin with original icons. It is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.

Start screen

Live tiles in 4, 5 or 6 columns: small, medium, wide and large. Drag to rearrange, merge tiles into folders or widget stacks, resize, recolour or unpin. Press and hold a tile for quick actions: the app's own shortcuts, size and colour, move, app info, and for a notification, reply, mark read or open. Prefer icons? Switch to the Icons home style with your choice of icon shape. A short setup on first run picks the style, theme, colours and apps.

Hubs

Tap a tile to open its full screen hub with swipeable pages:

• Weather: now, hourly, daily, UV, sunrise and sunset

• Music: your library and playlists, podcasts and internet radio, also in Android Auto

• Calendar: events by day, week and month

• People: chats, SMS and mail in one list with inline reply

• Productivity: next meeting with a join button, notes and tasks

• Markets and Sports: your watchlist, indices, live scores and results

• News: top stories, topics, saved stories and live tv

• Clock: alarms, world clocks, timers, stopwatch and timer sets

• Shopping: orders on their way, deals and past orders

• Health: steps today and this week

• Battery: drain, time left and screen time per app

• Money: bank, UPI and card messages, bills by due date, locked with your fingerprint

News in your language

Choose countries or languages for the news feed: Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Urdu, Assamese and Chinese, plus India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and about twenty other countries. Add any RSS feed of your own.

Panchang

Live tiles and widgets

Tiles flip like the originals: clock, weather, next event, now playing, contact photos, photos and notification previews. They pause in battery saver. Fourteen real home screen widgets work with any launcher. Merge same size tiles or widgets into a swipeable stack.

Everything else

A feed page with a greeting, agenda and news. A quick panel with resizable toggles and a quick search for apps, contacts and the web. An app list with an A to Z jump grid, a back and search rail and an optional square tile style. Fourteen accents, wallpaper colours, dark and light themes, glass or widget card tiles, photo, slideshow or daily wallpapers. Backup to your phone or to a file, with optional automatic export to a folder.

Notification access (optional)

If you allow it, TileShell reads notifications on your phone to show badges and previews on tiles, to list messages in People, and to read order updates and bank messages for the Shopping and Money hubs. This stays on your phone. Everything else works without it.

Accessibility Service (optional)

TileShell offers an optional Accessibility Service, off until you turn it on in Android Settings after an in app explanation. It is not an assistive technology app. It is used only to perform three system actions you ask for, as a launcher feature:

• Lock the screen: the quick panel lock tile

• Open recent apps: the dock button

• Open the notification shade: swipe down along the left screen edge

It uses Android's global action API only. It does not read your screen, other apps, passwords or anything you type, collects and shares no data, and changes no settings. You can switch it off any time in Settings, Accessibility.

Privacy

No accounts, no analytics and no ads. Your data stays on your phone. Weather, news, markets, sports, podcasts and radio fetch only what they show, and only your approximate location is sent for the weather.

Requires Android 8.0 or higher.
