Description

A front-end integrated QR code and Near Field Communication (NFC) reader that allows consumers to interact with smart meat labels, verify their authenticity and traceability, and engage with retail meat butchers through feedback . This application is the first part of the development of a mobile based traceability system for retail butchers in Tasmania, Australia.

Simple user guide as follows:

The app consist of two segments: The left hand side is the Near Field Communication reader and the Right hand side the QR code reader.

To interact with your food label using the NFC reader, simply tap the left had side and place the phone on the label. This will automatically activate the NFC reading capability of your android phone, place the phone on top of the smart meat label to retrieve information related to the meat product embedded as a URL link in the NFC tag.

To use the QR code reader, simply open the application and tab on scan QR code here. This activates the camera on your mobile phone and shows you a QR code image frame for proper alignment and image recognition. Once the camera captures the QR code , the app automatically opens a browser and displays all relevant information related to traceability of the meat product.
