My Environment

I am a 6th Grader and have developed this app because I too have seasonal allergies and wanted to do something to help people like me.

My Environment, is an application designed to notify, aid, and educate people who have environmental allergies about which areas have high pollen, the air quality of these areas, as well as educate them about their allergies and what might cause them. It uses a location sensor present in the user's device to retrieve the current location of the user and uses that location to retrieve the air quality and amount of pollution in that area based on what you select. If the user’s device does not support location sensing, the app automatically alerts the user and notifies them that their device is not supported but they may still use the learning features of our app. Information about air quality is provided from the EPA's (Environmental Protection Agency) website. As your location changes, the app automatically changes the information associated with that location.

It works the same way for Pollen except it pulls data from a different website; Pollen.com. As for the education part, it includes a learning center where the user may choose different subjects in order to listen to audio lessons about select subjects.

Note: Depending on your WiFi network it may take longer to retrieve your location and pull up your data so please be patient.
