Biografia

Origo (Origem) ensemble vocal feminino de música antiga do Porto, Portugal.

O ensemble foi criado em 2011 e nasce do primeiro contato com a música antiga por Sónia André, fundadora e diretora artística das Origo.

Apaixonando-se de imediato pela sua história e sonoridade, começa a pesquisar e a trabalhar no repertório antigo (medieval, renascentista e tradicional) e a escrever novos arranjos para várias vozes e alguns instrumentos antigos.

Em 2014 começam a mostrar o seu trabalho ao público com apresentações pelas Feiras Medievais do país e iniciam a tour Monumentum, projeto elaborado com o intuito de promover o património histórico através da música antiga.

O seu primeiro álbum de estúdio “Radix” lançado em Dezembro de 2014 reúne temas pertencentes à Península Ibérica medieval, como as Cantigas de Santa Maria da autoria de rei Afonso X de Leão e Castela e temas pertencentes ao livro vermelho de Montserrat, manuscrito do séc. XIV do qual se desconhece o autor. O álbum contém uma abordagem contemporânea e arrojada às Cantigas de Santa Maria.

O ensemble está a preparar a digressão de 2016 onde não irá faltar os temas do álbum Radix e a interpretação de temas da era Renascentista em que a teia de vozes se torna cada vez mais intrincada.

Origo (Origin) is female vocal ensemble of early music, from Porto, Portugal.

The ensemble was created in 2011 and it’s the result of the first contact with early music by Sonia André, founder and artistic director of Origo.

Falling in love immediately for its history and sound begins researching and working in the old repertoire (medieval, renaissance, and traditional) and writing new arrangements for several voices and some early instruments.

In 2014 they begin to show their work to the public with performances in Medieval Fairs and begin the “Monumentum” tour, project developed with the aim of promoting the historical heritage through early music.

Their first studio album "Radix" released in December 2014 brings together themes belonging to the medieval Iberian Peninsula, as the Cantigas of Santa Maria authored by King Alfonso X of Castile and León and songs from the XIV century manuscript “Red Book of Montserrat” which the author is anonymous. The album contains contemporary and bold approach to the CSM.

The ensemble is preparing to tour in 2016 where you will not miss the themes of Radix album and interpretation of themes of Renaissance era in which the web of voices becomes increasingly intricate.
