Imam Asy-Syafi'i -rahimahullah- as an ordinary human being, is sometimes right and sometimes wrong in his opinion about fiqh, moreover he combined the two madrassas namely narration and dirayah, and brought together various study and discussion groups in Mecca, Iraq and Egypt.

Changes in time, place and character have caused the arguments that reached him in one country to be different from those he received in another. all of that then became a consideration for him in opinion and fatwa. So, do not be surprised if after that two opinions appear, namely the old opinion and the new opinion, or other opinions on a problem.

In this thesis proposal of Comparison of Old Opinions and New Opinions of Imam Ash-Shafi'i, the author compiles the opinions of Imam Ash-Shafi'i, both new and old through the book Minhaj Ath-Thalibin, and conducts a comparative study of the schools of thought. famous jurisprudence in the corridors of syar'i arguments, so that clarity can be obtained and distinguish between strong and weak opinions.
