Phonics - Letter Sounds

Learn the ABC’s and the sound(s) each letter of the alphabet makes with Phonics – Letter Sounds!

Created by a Colorado Credentialed Teacher, Phonics – Letter Sounds is a fun and engaging way to learn the letters of the alphabet and the sound(s) that each letter of the alphabet can make. Players will discover each letter of the alphabet in chapters to avoid information overload. Each chapter has 3 different level types – Memory Match, Choose the Letter, and Item Drop. Each chapter also has 4 difficulty levels – capital and lowercase, image and word with first letter, image and word with first letter missing, and image only. The players main focus is to match the letter with the correct image or beginning sound, and to recognize each individual letter and the sound each letter makes. Every level has a letter button and when pressed plays a recording of what each letter sounds like. Remember, not all letters make only one sound!

This game does follow many rules from the Common Core Standards that are often used in the United States.

Common Core Standards (CCSS) (Language Arts – Reading/Writing) and individual state standards, detail what students should learn in Language Arts throughout the United States from Kindergarten through 12th grade. More information about CCSS can be found at: www.corestandards.org

The Rules of the American English Language – Chapter 1: Letters and Their Sounds align with 2 Common Core State Standards for kindergarten and two Colorado State Standards for Preschool students. These standards include:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.1.D-Recognize and name all upper-and lowercase letters of the alphabet

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3.A- Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.

COLORADO STATE -preschool: (similar to some other states)-Demonstrate understanding of initial sounds in words (such as mop begins with the /m/ sound)-Recognize the names of a minimum of 10 letters of the alphabet.
