About Running Pace Setter Pro
Keep your run/race times on target
This app is designed to help you improve your race speed and keep it on target during the run.
The screen can be configured to show up to 16 statistics about your current run. By changing the values to show and the font size it can show fewer values in a large font or more values (up to 16) in a small font.
I have a Garmin Forerunner 310 and this is my version of that on a phone.
Depending on how you measure your performance you can choose the values to show in any order with the important ones at the top. For example, some people run to an average pace, others to an average speed while others run to a target finish time. Whatever is important to you put these values at the top of the screen and hide the values you are not interested in. You can then adjust the font size to make the values fit the screen.
You can set a lap distance, an overall race distance and the run values that are available for you to choose to display are any from:
Current speed
Current pace
Time run
Distance run
Remaining distance for the race
Current lap number
Remaining distance for the current lap
Distance run in the current lap
Average run speed
Average run pace
Average speed for the current lap
Average pace for the current lap
Remaining time to the end of the race at the current speed.
Projected total race time at the current speed
Altitude
GPS accuracy
There is also a list of statistics for each lap run so far showing: lap number, lap time, lap speed, lap pace.
The app is good for glasses wearers who need big numbers. Hide what you don’t need and make the important things large. If you can cope with the maximum of 16 values on the screen at once, go for it!
The screen is laid out in 2 columns and 8 rows and you can show or hide any of these positions and put any of the values in any position. If you want to show more values in a larger font than will fit on the screen the screen will scroll to accommodate this
The app has full help screens describing every function.
I have written this app to be simple and clear to read. To facilitate this it has a white screen with black writing and no graphics or adverts. It only does what it needs to do and no more so it does not ask for authority to anything it does not need.
Please contact me if you have problems or there is anything you would like added. I have included all the values that I think you will need to keep your speed high. If there are other values I have missed and you would like shown please let me know. Also, if the app helps you give me a review. The only way others can find this app is through good reviews.
The app will work in KM, Miles or a combination of both.
The app is flexible so whatever way you keep your speed up you can set it to support you. Some look at the overall race statistics others a lap at a time.
I personally find it too hard to look at the over all race values so I only focus on one lap at a time. I run 10k runs and want to run in under 1 hour. To do this I need to run an average of 10km/h or faster. To help me do this I focus on 1 km at a time. I set my race distance to 10km and my lap distance to 1km. I just make sure that I am running an average of 10km/h for this lap knowing that if I do this the over all race speed with also be 10km/h. Sometimes I focus on pace and do the same keeping my pace at 6 minutes per km. I could also just focus on the projected finish time value and keep it below 1 hour.
When I run a marathon I switch from KM to miles. I want to finish in 4 hours 30 minutes. I set the race distance to 26.219 miles and my lap distance to 0.5 miles. I know that I want to keep an average speed of 5.8mph and my projected finish time of 4:30. I just focus on my average speed for each 0.5 mile lap and try not to look at the over all race. It gets me round at half a mile at a time.
