About Seattle Public Art
Search Artwalk Installations Around the Emerald City. Go Seahawks!
This guide features over 300 free, publicly accessible interactive artworks in the Seattle Metro area from the city of Seattle, King County and select organizations.
Stroll through downtown Seattle and see proof of the city’s ingenuity in the public arts. Artwork located in plazas and streetscapes, parks, and civic and corporate buildings enrich Seattle’s urban landscape.
Seattle’s public art program integrates artworks and the ideas of artists into public settings. Established in 1973, the public art ordinance specifies that one percent of eligible city capital improvement project funds be set aside for the commission, purchase and installation of artworks, enriching the public experience and giving voice to artists.
And there’s more art out there. The city’s collection encompasses more than 400 permanent public artworks throughout Seattle, and across King County there are more than 300 permanent works from the county’s collection. This map is showcases 10 areas: Seattle Center, South Lake Union, the Waterfront, Belltown, Denny Triangle, Pike Place Market, Central Business District, Pioneer Square, Chinatown/ International District and SoDo, as well as several installations in outlying areas. Enjoy your exploration of our city through the lens of art.
I am working diligently to collect and classify additional art pieces. Please check back for regular updates. To request a similar POI app for your needs, contact [email protected]
