Why did the sky become blue without being purple? Such a question may be remembered by many. But what made the sky blue? The wavelength of purple light is less than that of blue light. So the sky is supposed to be purple. But what causes us to see the sky blue?

Earth's atmosphere The sun's blue color spreads at a particular level in the atmosphere. We know that the white light of the sun is the creation of seven colors of light. These are purple, blue, sky, green, yellow, orange and red.

As the sun's white light enters that particular level of the sun, blue light is dispersed there. So that area looks blue sitting on the earth. So we think the sky is blue.

When you look at the earth from space beyond, its sky is already seen. It looks like a blue sphere. So the earth is called blue planet.
