Space

Space allows you to conveniently view in your mobile handset the Astronomical Picture of the Day (APOD).

It uses the open API at https://api.nasa.gov/api.html to retrieve and present astronomical pictures and their metadata.

This version allows you to access APODs from today’s one back to the first one published in June 16th 1995. You can view the picture in full screen and zoom it. If the content is a YouTube video, then a link to the video is provided for you to view it on the browser of the YouTube app in your handset.

Space has in App channel for you to suggest functionality or improvements. We will most appreciate your feedback and consider it when working on fixes and upgrades.

Future versions of Space will add more functionality provided by this and other open APIs for astronomical information.

NOTE: Space is completely free, contains no Apps and does not have any user tracking other than aggregated Google Analytics data. You should, however be aware that the pictures downloaded, although they are not the highest resolution ones provided by the used Open API, can be large enough for this App to have a noticeable impact in your data consumption if you use it frequently. We strongly recommend that you use this App mostly when you have a WiFi connection.
