The IndieCard app allows you to do four things:

1. Spend your Independent Dollar account balance exactly as you would spend Australian Dollars on your credit card. Indie Dollars can only be spent in local independent businesses, so your money is more likely to be recycled locally after you've spent it. You can open an IndieDollar account at www.step500.org.

2. Receive an IndieDollar cash-back reward every time you present your IndieCard at a local independent business that is a Step500 partner. Rather than collecting rewards that can only be used in one business (e.g. a coffee stamp card app), an IndieDollar cash-back reward can be spent in any Step500 local independent business partner - green grocers, butchers, coffee shops, fishmongers, chicken shops, health food stores...you name it!

3. Make a contribution to a local charity of your choice without out-laying any money. Every time your present your IndieCard at the till, Step500 and the independent business you supported makes a small contribution out of the transaction amount to your local charity. You don't pay any more - all you do is present your IndieCard and the charity receives the benefit!

4. Be secure in the knowledge that every time you present your IndieCard, you are part of a revolution - changing the world by locking in money in to your local community.

As a social enterprise, Step500 is committed to spending our revenues on furthering our social goal of Keeping Money Local. We do this by funding initiatives in your area - be it an arts project, local market, environmental initiative or community action project.
