Street Paws is an app-driven platform to connect and organize street animals, animal lovers, volunteers, NGOs, and pet services to revolutionize urban animal welfare management in India.

Indian culture and laws have for millenia upheld strong animal welfare and protection,

our aim is to leverage technology to ensure no animal is left behind in the connected social-media age.

In the first phase, we are launching with animal rescue:

The Street Paws app rescue response is designed from the ground-up with two core aims:

• comprehensive + flexible to help even the most active animal rescuers

• easy + simple so even beginners can start contributing

Street Paws covers every step of the rescue process

• Report a case

→ quickly - minimal inputs as the app helps fills much of the info needed

→ easily - the app walks beginners through the process and provides helpful information

• Gather volunteers

→ automatically - Volunteers nearby are instantly notified of a case

→ share everywhere - You can also share the case on social media with one tap

• Build the response

→ clear actions- Add 'Needs' to the case to let others know what needs to be done

→ organized responsibility - Volunteers indicate what they can do

→ built-in chat - discuss to coordinate a response without scrambling though apps

→ map guidance - get there hassle-free

• Follow-up

→ always updated - Add 'Updates' as they happen to keep all volunteers notified

→ progress - Case timeline to catch up on the progress in a blink

More About Us

Street Paws is born out of a recognition of the shortcomings of our current approach to urban animal welfare:

• Temporary - relocation to animal shelters (while safe) isn't scalable/practical beyond a point, isn't the best existence for dogs, nor prevents other streeties from taking their place

• Violent - culling / killing drives are medieval and inhumane

• Ad-hoc - thousands of scattered volunteers, facebook groups, NGOs, MCDs working for the same cause but without smooth coordination

• Poor implementation - an ABC program that is not universal, timely, or safe is ineffective

• Lack of awareness :

- • of dog/animal behaviors whether on the street or when they bring a pet home which result in fear / abandonment

- • of animal welfare laws / rulings by both public and law enforcement

• Lack of actions - many if not most can find the desire to love and help animals in themselves but lack the know-how, time, acceptance to act on them

We believe a modern technology driven approach can tackle each of these:

→ an app that makes reporting cases quick and easy by automatically notifying nearby volunteers and sharing the location of the animal

→ providing a list of volunteers, case-specific chat, case needs, updates

→ showing only relevant cases, enabling search / filtering

This is first release, and as volunteer animal rescuers ourselves, we want to design a platform that we all find helpful in solving the problems we face in animal rescue.
