Superdry was established in the year 2003. Julian Dunkerton, the owner of Supergroup, also owned Cult Clothing, which sold vintage-looking clothing to Students. This brand was famous in Cheltenham, Oxford, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. When a designer of this label left, Dunkerton approached him, and Superdry was born. Superdry was set up in 2003. Julian Dunkerton, who owns SuperGroup, already owned a brand named Cult Clothing that sold vintage-looking, skater-ish clothing and logo T-shirts to students in cities such as Cheltenham, Oxford, Birmingham, and Edinburgh.

One of the labels that Cult stocked was Bench, a skater brand known for its hoodies and T-shirts. When Bench's founder and designer James Holder left, Dunkerton approached him, and Superdry was born. They opened their first flagship store in 2011 in London. They soon became a famous British retail brand. There are now over 500 Superdry stores across the globe. They sell menswear, Women's wear, and outerwear collections.
