This Surah mainly revealed in Madina. It is the answer to prayer taught by ALLAH in Surah Fatiha. And also, the greatest verse of the Quran referred to as Ayat-ul-Kursi, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

‘Everything has a peak, and the peak of the Quran is Surah al Baqarah.’

The major part of Surah was revealed during the first two years of the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) life at Madinah. However, some verses revealed later have been included in this Surah because their contents closely match those in this Surah. Surah begins as “This Book has no doubt in it, a guide for the God-fearing (Mutakeen)” i.e., starts with an introduction to Quran and. It discusses the number of issues related to Guidance, ALLAH Governance on Earth, history of previous Muslims, creed, virtue and law.

It also teaches us about the fundamental concepts of Islam like the belief in life after death, Day of Judgment, and Fast, etc. In the Surah, ALLAH tells us that we should remember that the Day of Judgment will be upon us and that we should remember that this world is only temporary.
