Surah Mulk

The Holy Quran is compiled in 114 surahs called chapters. All chapters of the Quran have specific blessings and benefits. One such blessed surah is the 67th chapter of the Quran, Surah Al-Mulk. Al-Mulk means “The Kingdom” or “The Sovereignty” of Allah (SWT). It is a Makkan surah in 29th Para of the Quran comprising 30 verses. This surah mainly focuses on affirming the Oneness (Tauheed) of Allah (SWT) and strengthening the faith of believers.

Surah Mulk Benefits and Virtues

One who recites the surah Al-Mulk will be rewarded on the Day of Judgement. It is the protector of its reciter in this world and the world hereafter.

Regarding the multiple blessings of its recitation, Imam Ahmad (ﷺ ) narrates from Abu Hurairah (ﷺ ) that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Verily, there is a surah in the Quran containing thirty verses that will intercede on behalf of its reciter until he is forgiven and entered to Jannah.”

It is more beneficial to recite and memorize the verses of this surah along with the understanding of its meaning to

increase the attention in prayer and strengthen the belief in its spiritual benefits and cure. Concerning the

importance of Surah Al-Mulk, Abdullah Ibn-e-Abbas (ﷺ ) reported that the Prophet

Benefits, Virtues and Importance of Surah Al Mulk

Surah Mulk has a lot of benefits and virtues. Regarding the virtues of Surah Al Mulk Prophet Muhammad PBUH said

"There is a Surah in the Holy Quran that consists of thirty verses that call for a man until his sins are forgiven"

According to a Hadith Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "He who reads a letter from the Holy Quran will receive a Hasana, and it will be multiplied by ten."

"It is the prevention of punishment of the grave".

On the Day of Resurrection Surah Mulk will intervene with Allah for the forgiveness of its Reciter. This Hadith has been narrated (in Arabic) in the past tense because, like the past indefinite, its occurrence is definite and not open to inquiry. At some places, however, it has also been narrated in the present tense.

The Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, "There is a Surah in the Quran which is only thirty verses. It defended whoever recited it , until it puts him into paradise i.e. Surah al Mulk" [Fath al Qadir 5/257, Sahihul Jamiea 1/680, Tabrani in Al-Awsat & Ibn Mardawaith]

It was narrated that Abdullah ibn Mas’ood said: Whoever reads Surah al-Mulk every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said, “There is a Surah in the book of Allah it is but thirty passages which intercedes for a man on the day of judgment so that he taken out of the fire and entered into paradise; it is Surah the Blessed.” (Abu Dawud 1400, At-Tirmidhi 2891 and Ibn Majah 3876.)

We can attain the number of blessings with the recitation of Surah Mulk. There are a multitude of blessings that you can attain for just a few minutes of recitation. Really, it will only take you a few minutes from beginning to end. Look again and then ponder this narration. When some recites Surah Mulk before going to sleep, an angel comes to protect the recite as the person is unable to protect himself.
